Overview
This first video is the composition of a portrait and how to compose a simple head and shoulders portrait for the most powerful presentation. It also shows you how to approach someone that is short or tall. The video also contain tips on lighting for portrait the best light to use for your subject.
Stage 1
This is the second video of the portrait series. This portrait painting lesson explains how an artist can block in the head and gain a likeness right from the start. I also show you the most direct alla prima method of blocking in the head with proper color, and tone, right from the start. This ensures a great portrait right from the beginning.
Stage 2
This video shows how to take the portrait out of the block in stage to and accurate likeness. It includes painting of the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair, and clothing on your head and shoulders subject. This is a very direct no nonsense approach to gaining a great likeness. This video shows the most direct and accurate way to create a beautiful portrait sketch.
Stage 3
Video 4 shows how to take a portrait out of the sketch into a more polished finished portrait it will include different methods to polish and create a very lifelike finished look to your portrait. These are hints that I have learned in my 63 years of painting and would like to share with you.
