This post was an older post that I first created in 2011. I decided I wanted to update this post to share some more information about my old man portrait paintings, what inspires me to create them and where you can get them if you enjoy them. If you’ve already read this then I apologize. If not, please enjoy and let me know if you have any questions about any of my portrait painting subjects and styles.
Old Gentlemen Oil Painting Portrait
For a fresh start to a new week I wanted to share an oil painting with you all that I did. This is an old man sleeping very peacefully. There’s one thing that an old man really loves and that’s a nice nap. As I get older I understand the importance of reflecting and relaxation. It’s one of those old wise words of wisdom that we’ve all heard when we were younger. I actually spend a significant amount of time creating old man paintings. Most of which are done using a thick, impasto style painting technique that I’m pretty well known for.
What Inspires My Old Man Paintings?
I’ve been asked on more than one occasion to explain what inspires me to create so many old man paintings. I’ve also been asked how I come up with so many different styles of the paintings. Truth be told, most of the time I encounter these old men, either they reside within the local area or I come across them during my travels around the south doing art shows. Each one of them has provided me with words of wisdom that I hold close and don’t take for granted. I am also inspired by the famous Rembrandt paintings that were created years ago. As one of the most popular artists to ever live, he’s created some of the most iconic old man paintings known to man. I strive daily to create the best old man artwork I can possible create. I’m hoping that I make it to be one of those old wise men and maybe, just maybe I’ll have someone ask me for some advice. If they do, I sure hope I can give them some!
My Old Man Portrait Collection
If you’re look for an old man portrait, I have a number of pieces available for purchase within my collection. I’ve sold a great number of old man giclee prints but the original paintings are far more popular with higher demand and limited supply. A couple of my favorite pieces are the oil painting of an old man smoking a cigar, which I’ve titled Havana Break and another titled, Loose Wise Old Man painting. I honestly don’t know when I plan on discontinuing the creation of these old men portraits, but it’s likely not going to be for quite some time because I really enjoy creating them. You can always check out the online shop to see what’s available for purchase.
I hope everyone has a great week! I’ll be updating more as the week progresses! Thanks for stopping by! Almost all pieces listed on the online store where I display all of my artwork for sale on the site and if you are interested in purchasing please feel free to buy it directly using the site or you can contact me.
