Surprise Seascape Storm Painting of a New England Storm From Memory
There’s something about creating a seascape storm painting that really is adventurous to me. I remember going out with my dad and my uncle in our boat, to go deep-sea fishing outside of Plymouth Harbor, towards the Gurnet light. I can remember my dad looking over his shoulder saying” this could catch up with us pretty fast”. My dad was in an Old sailor who had served in World War II on PT boats, and was no stranger to the ocean. At that point we started in , and true enough about a mile outside of the harbor we got drenched with typical New England a storm. I can recall a combination of fear, and beauty that was totally unique to me at the time. This was close to land with 3 to 5 foot waves, and I couldn’t help but think, the size of the waves three or 4 miles out . This painting was executed with the nervous enthusiasm as I recall that afternoon with my dad and my uncle Raymond. I welcome you to take home an afternoon of my life as a 15-year-old kid.
There's nothing much like a surprise storm in the heart of New England. This is a piece titled, Surprise Seascape Storm. It was painted from a memory of a storm in Plymouth, MA.
