Have you ever cracked up by doing something that just hits you as very funny? It actually happens to me quite often. Yes, I amuse myself quite a bit, lol…
As I have written about in the past, I enjoy the late afternoon watching the sun go down behind my studio, and meditating every evening, however, the flies have been “bugging me” and invading my nirvana.
I have citronella candles to keep the mosquitoes away and I do believe I hear tiny laughter coming from the flies as they seem to take over my space. I discussed this with a friend of mine who suggested creating a fly trap. It’s a Ball mason jar with quarter-inch holes drilled in the top, then cat food and cane syrup are placed in the jar. It was absolutely amazing.
I did this and could not believe the results hundreds of flies have stepped into my “web.” I started thinking what a diabolical but soothing effect it had on me as I watched them give into their lust for this delicious formula in the jar.
This led me to reminisce about my childhood when I would watch one of my father’s many aquariums and exotic fish for hours. I concluded that I enjoyed watching the flies in the jar every bit as much, perhaps even more. Was this a sign of senility or old age, or are my standards low as well as flexible?
For whatever the reason I shall continue to enjoy my soothing twisted past time, and I have somehow learned to forgive myself.
When I’m not catching flies, I’m painting. Catch me in front of the easel creating things like these pieces here. Most of them are sold but some are still available.
