Very seldom do I take the time to just ponder my life, where I’m going and where I’ve been. For some reason, I have been thinking to myself, how did I get here and where do I want to go? Sitting in back of my studio, gazing at the pond on these hot summer evenings seems to be the perfect setting for such “spiritual” thoughts. More often than not, life is fast. It’s so fast, and with all our responsibilities, we never allow ourselves to “slow down” enough to try to design our futures.
I’ve just unceremoniously slipped from 67 to 68 years old. At this age, I didn’t feel the need or want for some big birthday bash, or surprise party, but rather wanted to spend some “alone” time to take a day or two, and do just exactly what struck my fancy. Those of you that know me, know this is pretty out of character for me. However, it got me thinking and it was somewhat of a melancholy train of thought.
What I’ve learned over the years is that it’s important to always keep your spirits alive and take time to reflect. Slow down, reflect and enjoy a sunrise or sunset if you can. Little things like that in which we take for granted can be the best remedy for looking forward. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy capturing these moments so often.
Three Things To Do Everyday
Here are a few things I suggest doing everyday to keep your spirit alive and drive to move forward going…
Take 20 minutes
Try and take 5 – 20 minutes per day to just relax and reflect. This will help you keep things on track. I suggest having a small notepad or using your iPhone notes to make some notes after this session. DO NOT browse online either during this time!
Do something physical
Try and do something physical everyday. Are bodies were built to move around. Get the blood flowing and keep yourself physically alive as possible. I wish I did this more lately and have been doing so as of now.
Talk everyday
Speak with someone everyday. Someone that you don’t live with. Someone that has the same goals and aspirations. I talk to a couple people every single day and it allows me to make decisions as well as progress with my business and life.
Well, it’s Saturday and I’m off to a late start today but I promise I’ll be doing all three of these things today. Have a great Saturday!
