Well I have chosen 26 paintings out of my collection, to put in a one-man show in Tuscaloosa at the arts and humanities Council of Tuscaloosa County. I have chosen a selection of portraits, landscapes ,painted in broken color still life’s, figure studies, and nudes. I want this to be a well-rounded representation of my work. All the landscapes have been done in a very impressionistic style called broken color, meaning rather than painting in orange with orange paint you pick up a brush load of red and yellow and paint it directly on the canvas and let the color break up ,inviting the viewer to mix The color with one’s eye. I am just leaving Meridian Mississippi ,going to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, about an hour and a half away .
It’s Sunday morning beautiful day, with lots of sun,and I’ll be keeping a sharp eye for potential subjects along the way. To be facetious, I am going to keep you posted on the glamorous life of an artist over the next day or so!!!!……. I’ve arrived in Tuscaloosa, and decided Panera bread would be a great place for lunch and I was right. A nice lunch on a Sunday outdoor table hit the spot! Monday morning the sun was shining a beautiful day . I got up and grabbed a breakfast, which I usually don’t do, but thought I needed some energy to hang the show. I got to the space which was very beautiful, and proceeded to hang 26 pieces, adjust the lights, And leave all the proper propaganda for the opening of the show. I just returned home safe and sound to my Bailey, Mississippi studio , but to find my two cats giving me hell for being gone a day! What a life! (once again I’m being facetious).
